September 11 Patriot Day
Today is Patriot Day in honor of those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. We've found ourselves singing a poor rendition of Darryl Worley's Have You Forgotten throughout the day. In memory of them, here are the lyrics to that song.
I hear people saying we don't need this war
I say there's some things worth fighting for
What about our freedom and this piece of ground
We didn't get to keep 'em by backing down
They say we don't realize the mess we're getting in
Before you start your preaching let me ask you this my friend
Have you forgotten how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside going through a living hell
And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout bin Laden
Have you forgotten?
They took all the footage off my TV
Said it's too disturbing for you and me
It'll just breed anger that's what the experts say
If it was up to me I'd show it everyday
Some say this country's just out looking for a fight
After 9/11 man I'd have to say that's right
Have you forgotten how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside going thru a living hell
And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout bin Laden
Have you forgotten?
I've been there with the soldiers
Who've gone away to war
And you can bet that they remember
Just what they're fighting for
Have you forgotten how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside going through a living hell
And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout bin Laden
Have you forgotten?
Have you forgotten all the people killed?
Some went down like heroes in that Pennsylvania field
Have you forgotten about our Pentagon?
All the loved ones that we lost and those left to carry on
Don't you tell me not to worry about bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

This brought tears. We should never forget. We should never forget the fact that this event was the most brutal, hateful act ever committed against us on American soil. We should never forget our military are fighting to keep us free. Idiots are free to spew their conspiracy theories, and others are free to bash our President and our Generals, and I am free to point out that these folks are indeed morons.
Thank you to our President and to all our brave military men and women who have chosen their noble profession-we are behind you-100%.
Why have you stopped posting, Jay? Is everything allright? I looked forward to reading something witty from you each day, and you're certainly missed.
Thank you for your reply on my blog entry on "9/11 was a false-flag operation???" And thank you for this beautiful posting--after reading the hateful words in the blog I was responding to in my post, this is a warm hug! And thank you for defending our country!
P.S.--I wrote a separate update to that post tonight after reading his response to my comment on his site. In this post I included a link back to the blog and entry in question, for anyone who wants to read his evidence and judge for themselves.
Do you really believe that catching the red herring that is Osama Bin Laden is going to bring world peace reigning down and life will be done on Earth as it is in heaven? I've got a couple of great films for you Jay...
Why We Fight - A film by Eugene Jarecki
War on Democracy - A film by John Pilger
Enjoy!
Who said anything about world peace?
I fight so the men and women who have given their lives for this country won't have done so in vain.
I fight for the men and women who fight beside me.
And I fight for my children, their future, and the future of my country.
In reference to 9/11 some have argued that "the subjects of the Empire finally struck back," and that U.S. foreign policy during the Cold War period was primarily responsible for the events of 9/11 and late 90s terrorism.
It's hardly a controversial view. A very prominent U.S. historian, formerly a consultant to the U.S. intelligence agency, wrote a book called Blowback, which was published in 2001, in the middle of the year, in which he said sooner or later there was going to be a terrorist attack on the United States because of what they were up to. The book was completely ignored until 9/11, so what I'm saying is not that controversial.
The United States has always thought in terms of who serves its interests the best. If it's a democratic regime, they'll work with that; if it's a military regime, they'll work with that; if it's a monarchy isolated from its people, they'll work with that. There are all sorts of regimes they'll work with. They have one determinant: Is this helpful to us or not? I believe in increasing and enhancing democracy and democratic accountability on every level. Is it any surprise that when the white house chooses to work for its own interests trampling other countries democracies and brushing the lives of people aside with disregard that it is so hated around the world.
How can you serve such a corrupt and selfish government? The US as a country and people are great but the people who run the country are bastards who will stop at nothing. I just hope you haven't served in Afghanistan or Iraq because the operations and reasons given for both wars have been proven to be lies... surely there must be rebellion in thinking in the military on the ground? You must fill like you have been spun more than a few humungous lies about the reasons for war. Or don't you care? Is it just about the money, career and retiring at 42?
this is an interesting 10 minute film. a letter from a chilean man to the victims of 9/11.

Wanted to thank you for leaving a comment on my blog. I just saw your page and the photos and it brought tears to my eyes. To this day, I can't see anything about 9/11 without it bringing me right back there. Awesome post.
"Is it just about the money, career and retiring at 42?"
I make more money through other sources of income, namely stocks and real estate, so it sure as hell ain't about the money. See my previous post.
I'm familiar with our foreign policy during the Cold War; I was a history major in college.
"How can you serve such a corrupt and selfish government?"
Easy. I don't get my news from the television, and I don't get it from the internet. Filter that out, and you're not corrupted by the anti-War and anti-American spin and propaganda.
So where do I get my news? Figure it out yourself.
"The operations and reasons given for both wars have been proven to be lies."
This made me laugh. Thank you.
To quote:
'I am an Army Aviator and a Captain. I've been in the military almost nine years now, and I plan on making it a career. You can't beat retiring at age 42.'
Yeah and Bush is a hero, a great guy, honest as the day is long and seeking to bring truth, justice and honesty to the countries of the world. He has never lied to the American people. Iraq was absolutely about weapons of mass destruction. Afghanistan was about chasing the bad guy. And Iran is about the axis of evil.
If you say so.
it's sad when a blogger feels he has to censor any other possible perspective on a subject. I think it says it all. I thought the american military was all about spreading freedom of speech and democracy around the world and here we have an army aviator and captain who is too scared of any words or criticisms or perspectives that are outside the box. I think it says it all. It is ok to do a post littered with reminders of that terrible day to glorify your own career and subsequent history in the army but when someone visits your site and leaves a comment you dont agree with you censor it. What are you so scared of? And just for the record here is what was censored above:
The planes hit New York City
And thousands now are dead
“It was Arab terrorists”
This is what you said
Well if that is the truth
Then what have you got to hide
And what were you doing
On the day all those people died
Where the fuck were the fighter jets
Ordered by the FAA
And what is your explanation
For what you were heard to say
When you told the Air Force to stand down
Not to intercept
Did you plan to let it happen
Or are you just inept
(Chorus)
I am left to wonder
As the flames are reaching higher
Was this our latest Lusitannia
Or another Reichstag Fire
There’s some distressing information, sir
Which I think should be explained
Just which things have been lost
And just what has been gained
Like the thousands of put options
Bought days before the crash
If the money were collected
It would make quite a pretty stash
And the only stocks they bought
Were American and United
Deutsche Bank knows the answer
But the names have not been sighted
And is it just coincidence
That this firm in the private sector
Was once run by “Buzzy” Krongard
Ex-CIA Director
(Chorus)
There’s something fishy in Virginia
And I want an explanation
Why did they get the contract
What is Britannia Aviation
A one-man operation
Corporation with no history
He said he worked in Florida
But there he was a mystery
So is there a connection
I think it bears investigation
When the FAA found boxcutters
Does this cause you consternation
Hidden behind the seats
In these Delta planes
That had been fixed in Lynchburg
With Brittania at the reigns
(Chorus)
You said Bin Laden was your friend
But he isn’t anymore
Now that he’s not fighting Russia
In your proxy war
Who called the FBI
Off the Bin Laden family trail
When so many times you had the chance
To re-write this sordid tale
Sudan in ‘96
The Taleban in 2001
Offered to turn him over
And right then you coulda won
But perhaps it is the case
That you’re avoiding victory
That to justify your exploits
You must have an enemy
(Chorus)
If you were not hiding from the truth
Then you’d have a truth commission
And not some masquerade
Kangaroo investigation
Hiring Henry Kissinger
The ancient master of deceit
To make sure all stones are left unturned
And the ruse is kept complete
And now you carry out your plans
Which you have had for decades
Conquering the world
With your troops and bombing raids
I see an evil regime
Led by an evil man
On Pennsylvania Avenue
Where this evil war began
(Chorus)
Reichstag Fire by David Rovics

I left plenty of people's posts alone. I deleted yours because it was reminiscent of those conspiracy theorists who believe we didn't land on the moon, and I thought it was pretty stupid. Obviously you're not going to respect my decision to remove it from my blog, so congratulations, you win. I'll leave it. You do realize we did land on the moon, right?
"... to glorify your own career and subsequent history in the army ..."
In case you didn't notice, I've remained anonymous. FYI, Jay Sewik is not my real name. I'm not glorifying anything other than my forum alter-ego. Congratulations to him, I guess.
"What are you so scared of?"
Getting drunk and accidentally hooking up with a transvestite at a bar comes to mind.
I was sure hoping we would actually be better off after the war, but now we can all see where we are.
How hard could it be to migrate some of our nukes onto the sands of the middle east and just simply be done with these people. They live in the dark ages for gawds sake!
Secretly bomb them, be done with them, and the human race will be much better off. Screw the oil, we can find our way without it. It may be hard, but much better than living with a idiot for a president and a continuing problem in the middle east.
Perhaps, we can then do things for ourselves, like help people in need, when they need it (Katrina victims), or perhaps help our kids with health care and education.
We do too much for others and not enough for ourselves.
Sorry to use your blog as a podium for the things that tick me off, but this was the catalyst to most people attention on our own problems (soon thereafter).

I beg your pardon?
I just cannot believe that anyone could say this. I am speechless.
"It may be hard, but much better than living with a idiot for a president..."
Um? My dear sir, you elected him yourselves. The Middle East had nothing to do with it.
And would it be pointless to point out that "idiot" has "an" for an article?
...BTW, to the original poster: Saddam is historically known to be the sworn enemy of bin Laden. Saddam is a secular $%^&*!! tyrant and bin Laden a religious fanatic. Just a little factual aside there.
